Trees have always been a memorable part of my life, even while growing up in the concrete jungle of Los Angeles. I remember the large figs (Ficus microcarpa) at my elementary school, as well as the delicate flowers of the white champaca at the local recreational center (Magnolia x alba, previously Michelia x alba). The flowers were prized by the community for their fragrance, but I only saw them as playthings to pick apart.

These days I have more respect for the plants around me. I chose to study trees because I want to increase green spaces in urban communities. During my graduate studies, I also discovered a passion for teaching. My tree consulting career combines both interests, allowing me to diagnose and provide education on tree problems that may affect your daily life.

​

On the education front, I also want to elevate the knowledge level amongst professionals in the industry by making information accessible to people who may not do well with book or classroom learning. My passion project is creating videos that supplement the certification guide for arborists, so tree workers can increase their knowledge with short videos focused on practical information.  The videos can be found on Youtube in the Arborist Study Guide channel.
